I started my working life as a roof tiling apprentice in early 1995, and on completion of my trade qualification three years later I was judged Victorian Apprentice of the Year.
I started working for myself in early 1999, and at that time I had a couple of mates that were working in the metal roofing industry. They presented me with the opportunity to help them out as required. At a later date I was offered a position that coincided with me deciding to close my roof tiling business for a career change into the metal roofing game.
In 2008 I qualified for metal roofing industry regulation, and during this time whilst working with The Metal Roof Specialists I met Daniel. As we got to know each other, we discussed the possibility of working together as our employer wound down the business to pursue another career. We went our own way for a short time before
I began helping Daniel on a few of his own projects, which led to us making the decision to start Precision Steel Roofing.
I'm passionate about roofing and providing a clean finish to our work… the resulting quality speaks for itself. This attitude serves us well, and as a result we have earned a great reputation and all our work comes through word of mouth referral.
My immediate goal is to increase the size and capacity of the business and then sustain it into the future. Currently both Daniel and I are ’on the tools’ and run jobs either together or with separate teams. My primary role off the tools is the day to day administration required to run the business efficiently and effectively.
Outside of work I love the outdoors and I am a keen hunter and fisherman. I also love spending time with my family and pottering around on our small farm.
I began working in the metal roofing industry in 1993 as an apprentice Plumber aged 16 when a friend's father offered me a job. Whilst I did well at school I really didn't like it.
Adam and I met working for former employer in 2008. I went out on my own after this employer ceased trading. Adam had already moved to a new employer and when I needed a hand on some projects I decided to reconnect with him and ask him to help me. It was at this time I asked Adam whether he would consider opening a company as I felt swamped trying to do everything by myself.
I am passionate about delivering a quality product to the customer, even at the expense of profit and time.
My immediate goal is to grow our business in a sustainable manner, while still delivering a quality product on time and budget. Long term I see us as a company with 10 to 15 employees.
My role off the tools is estimating and day to day ordering of material on site and coordinating employees with Adam. We always use Bluescope colorbond, and we have a preference for Stramit roofing products.
Currently I am single without kids.
I enjoy getting out in the bush, camping, four wheel driving and bush walking. I also enjoy mountain bike riding, snowboarding and wake-boarding. I keep fit by doing boxing and circuit training.
Recently I have become passionate about homelessness and drug law reform in the view of rehabilitation rather than enforcement.
As a kid and until I was about 25,
I played AFL for Upwey Football Club and Baseball as a junior for Upwey Ferntree Gully Baseball Club
as I have always lived in the Dandenong Ranges.
